Named by combining the Latin words for “sun” and “earth,” the Solterra is the first AWD electric vehicle to feature the legendary capability of standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. In addition to our first-ever all-electric architecture – the e-Subaru Global Platform – the zero-emissions Solterra is loaded with state-of-the-art technology like a stunning available 12.3-inch touchscreen, all-terrain capability, 8.3 inches of ground clearance, and dual-function X-MODE® with settings for snow/dirt and deep snow/mud that helps navigate just about any trail condition.

As the first-ever all-electric SUV to feature the capability of Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, the 2023 Solterra takes this legendary all-weather, all-terrain traction system to exciting new places. The balanced design of Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive creates uniform stability and delivers an optimal distribution of power for maximum traction and confident handling. The 2023 Solterra has generous ground clearance and short overhangs for easy maneuverability over rough terrain – so you can go places traditional electric vehicles typically can’t reach. Standard dual-function X-MODE with settings for snow/dirt and deep snow/mud lets you choose the perfect traction setting to match conditions for enhanced stability and control, even while going down hills.
Subaru StarDrive® with Driving Mode Select and S-Pedal
Subaru StarDrive offers an enhanced driving experience through Driving Mode Select, which lets you choose from Normal mode for typical trips, Eco mode to conserve battery power, and an extra-responsive Power mode. This advanced technology is engineered with the latest breakthroughs in electric vehicle technology to deliver substantial on-demand torque at all speeds for exciting everyday driving. You get even more control, through paddle shifter-adjustable regenerating braking, and S-Pedal Drive – with additional regenerative braking power to help reduce the fatigue of switching between gas and brake pedals[6].

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control[3] and Lane Tracing Assist[3] can take some of the stress out of driving by helping with steering, braking, and throttle control – both in daily traffic and on long road trips.

The 2023 Solterra features a comprehensive suite of active safety features to help protect you on every drive. The Blind-Spot Monitor[8] system warns you with a visual indicator on each side mirror if it senses a vehicle in your blind spots. Rear Cross-Traffic Alert[8] helps warn you of traffic approaching from the side as you back up. And with Parking Support Brake, the Solterra can even stop itself to help avoid objects behind you[9].

228 Miles of Driving Range with Standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive
The StarDrive powertrain gives you an EPA-estimated range of up to 228 miles[11] with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive as well as a variety of options for fast and convenient charging, both at home and on the go. The Solterra comes with a charger that works with any standard 120V outlet for Level 1 charging. You can also have a 240V Level 2 charger installed at home so you can plug in overnight and wake up each morning with a full charge[12].
Charge on the Go at Over 46,000 Charging Stations
When you’re out on an adventure, you’ll have access to over 46,000 public Level 2 and Direct Current Fast-Charge (DCFC) charging stations across the country[13] through EVgo – our preferred charging partner and the first public EV fast-charging network in the U.S. to be powered by 100% renewable energy. Solterra features DCFC capability that gives you up to 80% of your battery capacity in about an hour[12], so you can go almost anywhere and find a quick, convenient charger nearby.

With Solterra Connect[15], your Solterra and your smartphone make a great team. You can unlock and start select Solterra models using just your smartphone[16]. Remote Start with Climate Control, accessible via the Solterra Connect app, lets you set your preferred temperature so your drive is perfect from start to finish.
